High Country Real Estate in 2015
2015 was a highly successful year in real estate of the High Country Area. With well over 1,000 houses sold, many people purchased homes in one of the most loved communities. Between house sales and the celebration of a wonderful area, the past year has been one of achievement across the board.
This year the median cost of a home in the Boone area was $192k. This is a great value considering the quality of life in this region, and homes were in high demand this year. Plus, the area's unemployment rate is below average, so the local economy is quite stable. Additionally, many families were inclined to purchase a home in the High Country due to the great education offered in the area's public schools. On Trulia, all public schools listed had at least a four star rating, proving that Watauga County has a strong school system. One thing that many potential buyers look for is a home built recently, to insure that the home is up to date on important specifications. Over 70% of houses in Watauga county have been built 1970. This provides a wealth of options to buyers looking for a more modern home. 2015 was a year of progress in the High Country, which is partially why real estate was in high demand.
The past year, the Blue Ridge gained significant attention for its great community and environment. The Boone area made an appearance in Outdoor Magazine's '16 Best Places to Live in America', with a review stating, "...this college town has an embarrassment of outdoor riches." People from all over the world come to see the High Country's natural attractions such as beautiful mountain ranges, vibrant fall atmosphere, and variety of adventures including the Appalachian Trail and Blue Ridge Parkway. This area has something to offer for everyone, providing yet another great reason to buy a home in the High Country.
